Towards regenerative, circular practices with transparency as catalyst
Posted on 8 September 2022

When value chains pursue regenerative and circular practices, transparency is crucial to force decisions about the (re)design of products and processes.

Alignment

This study identifies the challenges that value chains face in their transformation to a transparent chain. We find that close alignment between disciplines is required as decisions have to be taken on (safety of) product constituents, product quality, disassembly and reuse of products and logistics. It is therefore crucial that provided information is shared in way that is understandable and reflective of reality.

Data integrety

Data appeared to be highly fragmented across a multitude of systems. It is first and foremost a matter of getting companies on par when it comes to digital maturity. To effectively trace products and their components,  all information should be brought together in a single place. For transparency, it is important that different access rights are provided to the specific stakeholder groups accordingly.

The results of this research were presented at the ISPIM Innovation Conference, Copenhagen, Denmark, 5-9 June.
